Soho post house Platform has installed a 24TB near line file-based media library and Cache-A LTO archiving system.
It will run alongside the facility’s 32TB Unity server.
Platform director and head of editing Simon Cruse (pictured) said: “Files don’t have the same tangibility and resilience as tape.”
“The industry has been talking about tapeless for a long time, but only now are we seeing a mass migration to new acquisition formats,” he added.
“One of the main factors, which has always made our clients hesitate, is the back-up and security issue.”
