Pinnacle Systems has launched the latest version of Edition 5, its mid-range video editing and DVD-authoring software. Key new features include a real-time accelerated graphics processor. The user can also author DVD right from the editing timeline and create menu structures and motion menus. Pinnacle has also announced the arrival of version 5 of its Liquid Purple software-based networked DV editing tool. However the Edition 5 performs nearly all the same functions of the Purple, at almost a third of the cost, retailing at£499 for Edition and£629 for Edition Pro.
