Ofcom has given programme-makers and outside broadcasters an extension on the use of the 2.5GHz to 2.69GHz frequency band that was due to be shut down on 31 August.

All annual licences for the band will cease on that date but JFMG, the company that manages spectrum for tele-vision and event production, is accepting applications for short-term use.

The frequency range, which is used for wireless cameras, is due to be sold off by the regulator.
