Brief Design and develop new titles and branding for Newsround that are fresh and engaging while reflecting
that it’s a children’s news service on CBBC.
How it was done Aligning the show to the BBC News core branding, Mobbs based his design on a ‘cats cradle’ of lines, but instead of place names, opted for multicoloured space orbs that fly out of a globe. Giving the design a glossy twist with bursts of texture, the adopted colour palette was made deliberately cool, mellow and contemporary to move away from the previous, more brash, neon/radioactive green and purple. New titles, on-screen furniture and templated graphics for daily use were all delivered. Kit used included Cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator. Composer David Lowe wrote the new theme music.
