Kinetic Content hit dating format finds tenth home with European expansion
Love Is Blind is heading to its tenth international territory with Banijay Italia producing a local version of Netflix’s hit dating format.
Italy is the fourth European country to announce an adaptation of the Kinetic Content format after one series in the UK and Sweden and a forthcoming German version.
In the show, a group of singles who want to be loved for who they are get the opportunity to build rapport with would-be suitors through talking, questioning and listening but not seeing. Upon making a decision based on these factors, the couple will then progress towards a wedding day, navigating real-world relationship trials to see if they end up wedding the person they fell in love with blindly.
Casting has now begun for the Italian version. CPL-produced Love is Blind UK launched in August and was quickly renewed for a second series.
Love is Blind premiered in 2020 in the US and quickly grew in popularity around the world, with local adaptations in Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Argentina outside of Europe. The US original has run for seven series, with the most recent run launching in the UK at the beginning of October.
At the beginning of the year Netflix snapped up the US rights to Banijay’s hit dating format Temptation Island. Banijay Studios North America is producing the US version for the streaming giant.
