Unscripted director leaves after six years

Netflix UK and Ireland director of unscripted Ben Kelly is departing the streamer after six years.

The well-regarded exec has played a big part in ramping up the SVoD giant’s output from the UK, helping to deliver shows such as Too Hot to Handle from TalkbackThames and CPL Productions-produced Love is Blind: UK, as well as At Home with the Furys, Surviving Paradise and Snowflake Mountain. 

Further details of Kelly’s departure, or if and how Netflix plans to replace him, are not known at this stage. His exit was first reported by Deadline.  

Kelly joined the streaming platform from ITV in 2019 and worked alongside the other members of Netflix UK’s unscripted team are director for unscripted series Daisy Lilley, unscripted series commissioner Sam Crack and manager, unscripted series  Luke Macfarlane   

Kelly reported into vice president of content Anne Mensah and earlier in his career oversaw programmes including The X Factor, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Dancing on Ice.
