IBC 2015: Systems integrator Megahertz will showcase a newsgathering truck that was built to an unusual brief on its stand at IBC in September.
The broadcaster client wanted to use leased vans for its fleet of SNG trucks, which meant no holes could be cut or into the base of the vehicle so that it could be returned to the hire company.
“It forced us to do a lot of engineering head scratching and intelligent application to come up with a solution,” said Megahertz managing director Jon Flay.
“The racks and technical furniture are secured in the van using seat mounting points, and the satellite dish is mounted using roof rack fixing points.”
On the vehicle’s roof is a VSAT satellite link which can be switched between Ku-band and Ka-band.
It is also fitted with a bonded cellular link and a terrestrial microwave antenna. A small mast can lift the antennas above traffic for improved transmission.
