Manchester edit house Flix Facilities is to invest £100,000 in new equipment including an Avid DS Nitris HD.

The money will be spent on a new suite at Flix's central Manchester site, as well as the installation of a LAN share and the upgrading of several offline suites.

Flix managing director Leo Casserly said: 'Everyone's got to be HD [compatible] as it's really starting to be an issue with an increasing number of clients.' Casserly added that he intends to make the new DS Nitris suite the 'best in Manchester'.

He also said that he is considering buying a Unity storage system and Avid Adrenalines in the new year.

Flix works closely with Manchester-based animation company Cosgrove Hall, which produces kids shows Engie Benjy and Fetch the Vet. The equipment - bought directly from Avid - is expected to be installed this January.
