Local TV station London Live has selected Ericsson to provide it with a range of broadcast services ahead of its launch early next year.
Ericsson will provide media asset management, scheduling, graphics hosting, EPG delivery, playout and transcoding services before delivering London Live content to Comux, the Birmingham central multiplex for the local TV stations.
London Live head of technology Bryn Balcombe said: “Ericsson has invaluable experience working with new entrants to broadcast. With their help, we will be able to deliver the very best in content to our audience in the best way possible, both via innovative IP delivery and traditional linear channel playout.”
Ericsson will also help London Live with its plan to deliver the channel over IP by hosting a dedicated cloud at its Chiswick Park facility.
London Live’s online platforms will launch at the same time as its linear channel on Sky, Virgin and Freeview in the spring.
Ericsson head of broadcast services for the UK Ian Brotherston (pictured) added: “It is great to work with an organisation creating a truly integrated and multiplatform TV channel and we are looking forward to supporting and helping to deliver the launch.”
