Brief Complete conform, grade and VFX, and deliver the 8 x 60-minute drama about a shanty town in the Yorkshire Dales that springs up around the construction of a railway viaduct in the 1870s.
How it was done The brief for the grade was ‘cinematic Western’, with good S-curve contrast enhancing the breath-taking landscape. Colourist Thomas Urbye, using the Quantel Rio, controlled the look of the countryside, pushing it towards a sunburned shade.
Costumes were saturated but kept pastel, while skin tones were allowed to maintain a warm feel without ever appearing too bronzed. The VFX work included the building of a full CGI viaduct and set extensions. Maya, Nuke and Fusion were used. Mark Maltby did the online, Alexis Haggar was VFX supervisor and Dan Marbrook produced.
Watch it Thursdays, 9pm, ITV
