Yet-to-launch platform adds 450 hours of content from CBS Reality and Anime
ITVX has struck its first third-party content deals, securing up to 250 hours of true crime content from CBS Reality and more than 500 episodes of anime programming from Glasgow’s Anime.
The former agreement will enable the launch of a True Crime UK channel on the platform, hosting CBS Reality titles such as Descent of a Serial Killer, The Real Prime Suspect and New Scotland Yard Files. Initially there will be 200 hours, with another 50 coming online in 2023.
The 200-hour agreement with Anime will make ITVX the largest AVoD supplier of that type of content in the UK. Titles will include Cowboy Bebop, Gunbuster and Escaflowne.
ITV director of content partnerships, streaming Laura Franses hailed the ad revenue-sharing deals: “They herald a new business model and the opening up of the ITVX platform, enabling us to bring hundreds of hours of third party content to ITVX users.”
Senior vice president of business development for AMC Networks International UK Tanya Gugenheim, who struck the CBS Reality deal, added that the agreement “underscores our commitment to showcasing expert-led critically-acclaimed factual entertainment to audiences in the UK and beyond.”
ITVX will launch in late 2022.
