Reality format will now play on ITV2/ ITVX later than originally planned
ITV’s relaunch of Big Brother is now slated for autumn 2023, Broadcast understands.
The high-profile format had been lined up for March but the broadcaster has pushed the show to the autumn due to a large influx of reality programming in the first half of the year.
This includes the return of a winter edition of Love Island, which will run towards the end of January and February, and a special series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! featuring previous participants.
Pushing Big Brother later in the year will give it greater prominence and allow casting to continue into the summer.
ITV confirmed in August that the series would return to UK screens after a five-year hiatus. A six-week run is being made by Initial and is expected to be shotin a London location.
A spokeswoman for ITV said: “As previously announced Big Brother will air on ITV2 and ITVX in 2023, transmission details will be confirmed closer to launch.”
