ITFC, the London-based content management services company, has won the contract to provide all of Five’s subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The company won a competitive tender and will provide subtitling for Five’s terrestrial channel plus Five USA and Fiver. Its contract covers many of the broadcaster’s most popular shows, including Home and Away and Five News.
ITFC already provides Five with several other key pre-transmission content services, including technical compliance, digital delivery and editing.
Five controller of operations and technology David Burge said: “We have been working closely with ITFC over the past year on a number of initiatives and we feel the subtitling contract is a natural development of our relationship with them.”
Five is required by Ofcom to provide subtitling for 80% of the programmes on its main channel.
ITFC also provides subtitling services for ITV, GMTV, Virgin Media and Hallmark.
