P3 last week became the first UK post house to purchase Avid's Unity ProEncode product as part of a raft of system upgrades costing £250,000, writes Rick Dacey.
The ProEncode will streamline media encoding and transcoding processes by using a dedicated workstation attached to P3's Unity SAN to complete these tasks as a background process.
Managing director Paul Hutchings said: 'ProEncode frees up the editing workstations from these mundane tasks.Ó
P3 also upgraded two DS systems to DS Nitris HD and DS v7 SD, three Symphony systems to v5 and its Media Composers to v12, all on the HP-XW8000 platform. They have also added new Adrenaline and Xpress Pro/Mojo systems.
