Pan-English global originals chief stepping away after two years
Amazon MGM Studios exec Rola Bauer is stepping down as head of pan-English global originals.
Bauer took up the role in 2022 having initially joined MGM as president of international television productions, prior to the studio’s acquisition by the e-commerce giant.
She led a division that has been behind Prime Video shows including Harlan Coben’s Lazarus, Robin Wright-starring The Girlfriend and Riz Ahmed’s Quarter Life.
Bauer’s team will be moved under Amazon MGM Studios head of TV Vernon Sanders, although it remains unclear if a replacement will be found for the position.
Her last day has not been confirmed but it is believed she will return to producing.
Prior to MGM, Bauer founded Tandem Communications out of Germany. StudioCanal picked up a majority stake in the company in 2012, with Bauer subsequently leading the French outfit’s TV unit including coproductions, acquisitions and originals.
