Hit the Mic! already under option in numerous markets including UK and US

French giants Mediawan and StudioCanal have teamed up for a competition format dedicated to the world of sports commentators. 

Produced by Canal+ and Mediawan’s French label Black Dynamite Production, Hit the Mic! – A new voice for sports aims to unearth the next voice of sports commentary.

The voice being sought out is one that is able to mesmerise audiences through the emotion of a sports match. The format can be focused on multiple sports disciplines and relies on casting compelling candidates with strong personalities and an ability to capture the audience’s attention.

The original French show Au Micro! sought to discover the next commentator for broadcaster Canal+’s coverage of the Champions League and fielded 10,000 applicants. It proved a success in the country and has since been renewed for a second series.  

Mediawan and StudioCanal bill Hit the Mic! as the first “in the world entirely dedicated to the art of sports commentary”. 

The format will be distributed simultaneously by Mediawan Rights and StudioCanal and has already been optioned in the UK, the US, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, and several African countries.
