BritBox, Sky Deutschland and Stan fall for Raw true crime docs

BritBox in the US, Sky Deutschland and Australia’s Stan are among the buyers to pick up Raw true crime docs Dead in the Water and The Body Next Door. Produced for Prime Video, Dead in the Water explores the murders of Chris Farmer and Peta Frampton in Guatemala in 1978. Digital rights for the three parter have been bought by BritBox in the US, while broadcast rights have gone to Sky Deutchland for Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, German-speaking Luxembourg and Switzerland, Danish PSB DR, Now TV Hong Kong, and Canal+ in France and French-speaking territories. All3Media International has also scored deals for The Body Next Door, which explores the events that unfold when a sleepy village in Wales discovers a body in 2015. Produced for the UK’s Sky Documentaries, streamer Stan, New Zealand’s TVNZ, Now TV Hong Kong and TV2 in Denmark have all bought the three-part series.

Keshet International (KI) has bolstered its c-suite ranks with the appointment of Nehama Cohen to the newly created role of senior vice-president of development & network, non-scripted. Cohen will oversee the creation and development of original non-scripted formats for producer-distributor KI, alongside the international roll-out and adaptation of the non-scripted formats within its catalogue. She reports into KI chief exec Keren Shahar and arrives from Armoza Formats where she has been chief creative officer for the past four years.

American Public Television picks up Aussie horse therapy doc

Escapade Media has secured an exclusive deal for the Australian single doc The Healing with American Public Television. Produced and directed by Nick Barkla, the 2022 doc explores an equine welfare programme that brings traumatised ex-racehorses and military veterans together to help heal each other. The programme, which will air next month, is led by professional horse trainer Scott Brodie, whose processes teach both horses and humans new skills that build trust, patience and confidence. American Public Television’s senior vice-president of progamming Dan Soles said: “Viewers in the United States will be inspired by the remarkable story of mutual recovery and care for horses and veterans.”
