16 Sunsets is latest offering from production team behind 13 Minutes to the Moon
Jago Lee’s TellTale is to launch a podcast exploring the history of Nasa’s space shuttle era.
The 10-parter 16 Sunsets is produced by the production team behind BBC Worldwide podcast 13 Minutes to the Moon with Canada’s Antica in partnership with Acast.
It will be written and presented by broadcaster and space survival expert Dr Kevin Fong. He also co-wrote and presented 13 Minutes to the Moon, which focused on the drama of the final 13 minutes of descent before Apollo13’s touchdown on the moon.
In 16 Sunsets, Fong will cover the Columbia space shuttle launching from Kennedy Space Center in 1981, marking the start of a 30 year programme and 135 missions. He will also explore the 1986 Challenger disaster, and its impact on space travel.
The podcast will include first-hand testimony from over 40 Nasa veterans, mission audio and expert analysis, as well as music by Christian Lundberg, part of Hans Zimmer’s Bleeding Fingers Composers Collective.
The exec producers are Jago Lee, Rami Tzabar and Stuart Coxe, and the first episode will be released on Thursday 7 November.
Acast’s managing director for Canada Heather Gordon said:“We saw the brilliance of Kevin and his team on 13 Minutes to the Moon and were honoured to have the opportunity to work with them on 16 Sunsets.
“This podcast is truly out of this world – both in the story-telling and fascinating history that it captures, while offering advertisers another stellar way to reach new audiences through the magic of podcasting.”
Telltale and Toronto-headquartered Antica – which has a minority investment in and first-look deal with Telltale - have previously collaborated on hit podcasts Love, Janessa (BBC/CBC) and Educating Daisy (Audible).
