Joint scripted creative director will oversee whole TV slate at Black Doves indie 

Sister has promoted joint creative director of scripted Chris Fry to managing director, overseeing the whole TV slate.  

Since joining the indie in 2017 and being promoted to joint creative director of scripted alongside Naomi de Pear in 2021, he has executive produced many of the indie’s scripted series. These include Black Doves and Kaos (Netflix), Bafta and Emmy winning Chernobyl (HBO/Sky) Landscapers (HBO/Sky) and Bafta winning Giri/Haji (BBC2/Netflix). 

His forthcoming projects include Black Doves (pictured top) series two and David Ireland’s Cold Water for ITV.

In his new role, Fry will continue to report to chief creative officer and co-founder Jane Featherstone, who said: “Chris’ experience and knowledge of making high end television is unparalleled. He is a great leader, full of passion and energy, and the team here at Sister and the buyers we work with all love him. 

“I am sure he will continue to keep us on our toes and make sure that we’re executing at the highest level.”

Before joining Sister, Fry was a producer at Kudos, where he worked on dramas including BBC1’s Spooks and Mayday and Sky’s The Smoke. He also produced the first series of Channel 4’s Humans and executive produced the second series.  

In October last year, Sister closed its Los Angeles-based arm citing the downturn in the country and the competitive landscape for indies. Group chief executive Cindy Holland left the company as a result of the closure. It is understood that her replacement is still being recruited for. 

In 2024, the indie topped Broadcast’s annual Indie Survey with turnover of £205.1m.
