Aria Studios will open in October with two soundstages and 20,000 ft of production space
S4C and Rondo Media are opening a £1.6m film and TV studio facility in Anglesey to capitalise on the increasing number of productions being made in North Wales.
Slated to be ready by October 2022, Aria Studios will have two fully soundproofed studio stages and 20,000 square ft of filming space.
The development will be financially supported by the Welsh Government through Creative Wales.
The aim of the project is to develop sustainable work opportunities in drama production across the spectrum for freelancers including electricians, set designers, lighting, creative production staff and extras.
The studios will work in partnership with colleges, universities, and media training agencies across Wales.
Gareth Williams, Rondo Media’s chief executive, said there is a “real opportunity to grow a brand-new facility which will offer sustainable long-term employment opportunities in the region and build on several skillsets that already exists in the area”.
Siân Doyle, chief executive at S4C, said the project was an exciting opportunity to support the economy in North Wales.
She said: “This top-of-the-range development will attract high profile productions, and we look forward to creating opportunities locally and build our presence even further in North Wales.”
