US streamer readying ‘most comprehensive’ portrait of infamous cult leader

Manson Tapes

US streamer Peacock is preparing to launch a Charles Manson three-parter from Renowned Films that claims to offer the most comprehensive screen portrait of the cult leader.

Making Manson features never-before-heard audio of Manson taken from more than 100 hours of intimate conversations recorded over 20 years up until his death in 2017.

The series, which debuts on 19 November, offers new details about Manson’s past and insights into his worldview, with almost 20 contributors appearing in the series including victims and those closest to his crimes.

The 3 x 60-minute show sees Manson talking openly about his part in the infamous crimes, as well as his upbringing, criminal youth and the cruelty he suffered in reform school.

Billie Mintz is attached as director with Renowned’s Max Welch, Kate Maddigan, Tim Withers and Duane Jones exec producing for Renowned Films.

Renowned recently produced similar true-crime doc My Son Jeffrey: The Dahmer Family Tapes for Fox/Paramount+, as well as Elvis’ Women for Amazon, Deadly Waters with Captain Lee for Oxygen and Ice Cold Catch for Discovery+.
