New outfit Fulwell Entertainment in the works after last year’s merger deal
Sports production heavyweights The SpringHill Company and Fulwell 73 Productions are establishing a new production giant to be called Fulwell Entertainment.
Broadcast understands that the two companies have closed their merger deal announced late last year and that the new entity is taking shape.
The SpringHill Company is the entertainment business founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, while Fulwell 73 is led by Leo Pearlman. James Corden joined the indie as a partner in 2017.
The two businesses announced a 50/50 merger in November, with Carter and Pearlman to be joint chief executives.
Sources say the company will continue to build and grow outward-facing brands, including docs brand Uninterrupted and talkshow The Shop, in addition to its brand consultancy, Robot.
Fulwell 73’s unscripted label Bitachon365, which recently produced the BBC Storyville doc Surviving October 7th: We Will Dance Again and Netflix series The Liver King, will remain under the umbrella. Jesse Collins Entertainment, which is behind Beyoncé’s Christmas Day NFL halftime show, and in which Fulwell is an investor, will also remain under the umbrella.
Pearlman, Corden, Ben Winston, Ben Turner and Gabe Turner will remain partners in the new entity.
Fulwell Entertainment has a busy two weeks ahead. It is set to produce the 67th Grammy telecast this Sunday, a new series of The Kardashians is set to launch on Hulu, and The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl special is debuting on Disney+.
Another season of NBA series Starting 5, BET+ scripted series Churchy and a music doc on Take That are currently in production.
The SpringHill Company’s recent projects include Roku doc A Radical Act: Renee Montgomery while Fulwell 73 was behind December’s Gavin & Stacey: The Finale, which has had over 20m viewers in 28 days making it one of the highest rating scripted programmes ever in the UK.
