The IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) has opened its 2014 Design and Innovation Awards.

The annual awards recognise new products and services that offer “significant benefits or new opportunities” to the broadcast industry.

This year, applications are invited for nine industry segments.

IABM director of business development and technology and chair of the panel of judges John Ive said: “These newly structured awards reflect the changes the industry is going through and allow us to open them up to companies large and small with products and services addressing a range of specific applications.

“The nine categories effectively reflect the broadcast industry pipeline from acquisition of content at the front end to playout and delivery at the other and give everyone an excellent opportunity for their achievements to be recognised.”

The categories:

  • Acquisition & production
  • System automation & control
  • Post production
  • Playout & delivery systems
  • Content & communication infrastructure
  • Test, quality control & monitoring
  • Audio
  • Services
  • Storage

The deadline for entries is Friday, 4 July.

Winners will be announced at the IABM reception and awards ceremony at IBC (pictured) in Amsterdam on Saturday, 13 September.
