Virgin Media has deployed Harmonic’s ProMedia software suite to power its multiscreen service Virgin TV Anywhere.

ProMedia Live transcodes MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC H.264 content to multiple adaptive bit-rate streams, enabling Virgin TV Anywhere customers to watch up to 45 live TV channels on devices including TV sets, PCs, smartphones and tablets.

Virgin Media said Harmonic ProMedia would optimise its multiscreen operational workfl ow and “help put fantastic entertainment at our customers’ fingertips”.
