Classic FM parent GWR is poised to take its first step into TV in a move that is likely to lead to the re-branding of cable arts service The Performance Channel, writes Steve Clarke.
GWR and The Performance Channel parent Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT) are in talks about relaunching the service as Classic FM TV.

The venture is one of several collaborations being planned by GWR and DMGT, which holds an 18.8 per cent stake in GWR. These include developing local websites in areas where the two already have media interests.

Last week, GWR announced its preliminary results for the year to 31 March.

Turnover increased by 21.5 per cent to£102.3 million and pre-tax profits jumped 37.5 per cent to£24.9 million. Cash flow also increased by 15 per cent to£27.6 million, with sales up by 22 per cent to£102 million.
