Manchester post firm Flix is to open another facility at The Space Project.
Flix will operate five edit suites and an ingest area at the new 360,000 sq. ft. drama and TV studio complex which opened last month.
The initial focus will be on picture post, with capacity for data wrangling, ingest, offline and online, but managing director Leo Casserley said audio suites could follow.
He said: “The Space Project gives us the chance to be involved at the ground floor with a venture that we’re not only sure will strongly support our growth ambitions, but provide us with the opportunity to contribute to Manchester’s ability to continue to produce content that is second to none the world over.”
Flix will begin fitting out the edit suites over the next few weeks.
The addition of The Space Project facility continues Flix’s recent expansion.
In November, the company unveiled Flix Broadway, a 24,000 sq ft studio and post production outfit next to MediaCityUK.
Over the next few weeks its will begin work equipping a 5,500sq ft facility in The White Tower at MediaCityUK. The sites are in addition to its central Manchester base.
Pinewood-based TV and film resource publishers Kays has also taken office space at The Space Project.
The Space Project founder Sue Woodward said: “The Flix model is all about demonstrating that the North can offer high class post services, while Kays’ decision to join us at The Space Project is a further welcome professional endorsement of our objectives here.
“We look forward to welcoming on board additional new businesses in the near future with the ability to make a similar contribution to our ambition to make Manchester the go-to place for independent production facilities in the UK.”
