Rental firm Filmscape has launched a finance initiative for film and television productions.

The funding will be made available to productions that hire the firm’s camera, lighting and grip equipment.

Filmscape managing director Kevin Harvey said the project would give Filmscape a “competitive edge”.

He added that there was no cap on the amount Filmscape would invest and that the decision would largely come down to the timing of the shoot and the availability of equipment.

“We are looking at facilitating small investments in films and TV projects with budgets up to £5m,” Harvey said.

Filmscape is also working with post firm LipSync on joint investments.

LipSync financial director Norman Merry said: “[Working with Filmscape] provides valuable expertise in production equipment and post-production options.”
