Live return of three-day summer event
Edinburgh TV Festival is to return to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), having been held digitally for the last two years.
Passes for the event between 24-26 August will go on sale at the end of February.
There will be a number of in-person and live streamed sessions in the months leading up to the festival including a special ‘BBC at a Crossroads’ session this Thursday (10 February) hosted by Krishnan Guru-Murthy, discussing the future of the BBC and the licence fee.
The event will also include ‘new look’ Spotlight On…, controller sessions and awards, with more details of speakers, sessions and a new advisory chair yet to be announced.
Last year, speakers included Billy Connolly, Greta Thunberg, Tan France, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Steve Coogan, London Hughes, the cast of We Are LadyParts, with the MacTaggart Lecture given by disability activist and writer, Jack Thorne.
Festival director Campbell Glennie, has promised that the festival will improve its accessibility after introducing captioning and BSL interpreters on all digital panels for the first time last year.
Glennie said: “The past two years have raised vital issues which we will continue to address at 2022’s Festival as well as showcasing the very best of the global TV landscape.”
