Warren Brown and Phyllis Logan to star in series combining crime and cooking 

BritBox has greenlit a crime drama set on the Italian island of Capri from Eagle Eye Drama in association with ITV Studios. 

The six-part A Taste for Murder will feature classic Italian cuisine as the main ingredient in a series of murder mysteries.

Set to premier on BritBox in the US and Canada, it will star Warren Brown (The Responder) as a detective who retreats to Capri to stay with his Italian in-laws, but soon finds himself immersed in local murder cases.  

Downton Abbey star Phyllis Logan will play the matriarch of the family who manages the family restaurant and Cristiana Dell’Anna (Gomorrah) will play a detective with the state police in Naples.  

A Taste for Murder is created and written by Matt Baker (Patience), the director is Jon Jones (Hotel Portofino) and the producer is Megan Ott (House of the Dragon).  

The series will be filmed on location in Croatia and Italy.  

The executive producers for Eagle Eye are JoMcGrath, Walter Iuzzolino, and Carolina Giammetta, with Robert Schildhouse, Stephen Nye, and Jess O’ Riordan executive producing for BritBox. 

Eagle Eye chief creative officer Jo McGrath said: “A Taste For Murder is an escapist detective series weaving intriguing crime cases with compelling family drama, all set against the beautiful Amalfi coastline.  

“Cooking and food will play an important role in the show, reflecting the emotional dilemmas faced by our core characters, and helping the family at the heart of the series to heal past wounds.”

BritBox president North America and general manager of BritBox International Robert Schildhouse said the drama is “more than the standard crime procedural”. 

“Matt Baker and Eagle Eye Drama have crafted an innovative show that combines mystery, culture, and heart in a way that feels fresh and authentic,” he added.  

The drama will be distributed internationally by ITV Studios with production service provided by Drugiplan.
