‘Manchester 3’ is the latest phase in the company’s regional data centre expansion programme which will cover several cities in the UK.

It is the company’s third data centre in the Manchester area and will provide firms in the North West with access to “Business Class” data centre facilities.

IFL account director Matthew Edgley said: “We’re confident that Manchester 3 will be the highest quality and most technologically advanced data centre in the North West of England. We are currently in talks with a number of potential anchor tenants for whom we can meet particular specifications during the build out phase.”

IFL expects interest to come from North West based IT services players and current clients looking to expand.

The state-of-the-art colocation facility will provide 22,000 sq ft of technical space accommodating up to 1,000 racks with IT power to an average of 4.5KW per rack in hot and cold aisle containment configurations.

It will also offer a range of connectivity solutions from many major telecommunications and network providers.

‘Manchester 3’ will open in the second quarter of 2011.
