Cinesite has expanded its models department at Shepperton Studios so it can provide a wider range of physical effects services.
Cinesite Production Services (CPS) will absorb the company’s existing miniature construction and photography team and add a whole range of new offerings, including effects element creation and photography, water-based photography as well as prop-making.
It will also hire out wind, smoke, steam and wave machines, cobweb guns, glass tanks and gimbals.
The Shepperton facility has been fully refurbished and expanded to house the new services. Around 4,500sq ft of storage space is now available to the team, along with 7,000sq ft of workshop space, a loading bay, production
offices and meeting rooms.
José Granell is heading the operation, which has 10 full-time staff and will ramp up with freelancers to deal with big projects.
Cinesite managing director Antony Hunt said the company had been able to expand its range of services because of its “highly skilled team at Shepperton”.
