The Reward will see players looking to ‘outwit and outmanoeuvre’ each other

Studio Lambert is working on a social power play format set in a stately home for Channel 4, Broadcast understands.

The Reward is a multipart competition series that is billed as a “high stakes game of collaboration and cunning” in which competitors are “pushed to their limits and test how far they’ll go to take home a fortune”.

Studio Lambert produced Rise & Fall for Channel 4, which also involved social dynamics as part of its gameplay

Players must work together to earn money, but they cannot split the winnings equally. Instead, according to a casting call, they must “outwit, outplay and outmanoeuvre” their rivals.

Only by utilising their powers of persuasion, charisma and strategic planning skills can players ensure that they take home the biggest cut of the large cash prize.

Broadcast understands that The Reward is likely to come out of Steve Handley’s entertainment and reality department at C4.

All3Media-backed Studio Lambert last year produced Rise & Fall for the PSB, which also played into social dynamics as part of its format.

Handley, who was cemented as head of entertainment and reality in March, told Broadcast in May that he was interested in ideas akin to Studio Lambert’s hit BBC1 show The Traitors, noting that audiences want formats with strategy and that allow them to be ahead of the game.

He said at the time: “There’s a good trend going in strategy and gameplay that we need to get into.”
