Channel 4 and BBC1 lead the nominations for the Broadcast Awards 2015 after being shortlisted in multiple categories, including Channel of the Year.
C4 picked up 25 nominations ahead the ceremony, which takes place on 4 February at Grosvenor House. This is more than any other channel and follows a record awards haul at the Grierson’s earlier this month and strong showings at RTS and Bafta.
The commercial broadcaster, led by chief creative officer Jay Hunt, is particularly strong in the Best News & Current Affairs Programme category, where it has snagged all but one of the six nominations.
C4 also provides three of the six programmes shortlisted for both Best Documentary Series and Best Documentary Programme.
BBC1 has nominations across a wide range of categories, with shows including The Great British Bake Off, Happy Valley, The Graham Norton Show and Pound Shop Wars all receiving recognition.
The two channels are well ahead of the competition in terms of number of nominations. BBC2 has 10, while BBC3 and ITV have nine and eight respectively.
BBC1 and C4 are up against BBC3, Dave, E4, ITV and Sky Atlantic for the accolade of Channel of the Year.
Meanwhile, Big Talk Productions, Love Productions, Red Production Company, Screenchannel Television, Tiger Aspect and World Productions will compete for Best Independent Production Company.
ITV won Channel of the Year in 2014 on the back of hits including Broadchurch and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Twofour was crowned Best Independent Production Company after the success of shows including Educating Yorkshire.
The Broadcast Awards 2015 take place on 4 February.
