Fujifilm UK is delighted to extend their partnership with BBC Studioworks by upgrading its fleet of lenses to support 4K technology.
BBC Studioworks has been using a combination of Fujinon HA23x7.6, HA22x7.3 and HA14x4.5 HD lenses for the last 10 years. Geoff Ward, Operations Manager, BBC Studioworks said “It’s essential for us to invest in equipment that is future-proof. Having previously invested in Fujifilm’s HD lenses, and following the testing of its latest 4K lenses, we decided to continue our relationship with Fujifilm.”
Following a careful discovery process to determine the ideal equipment to meet BBC Studioworks’ requirements, Fujifilm installed new UA24x7.8 ENG lenses that feature a new “Breathing Compensation Technology”. BCT synchronises slight zoom movement with the focus movement to automatically correct for changes in the angle of view while focusing. This minimises breathing and keeps the image size constant, allowing for attractive, non-distracting focus pulls to help the story-telling process.
In addition, Fujifilm was able to supply custom shot boxes for the lenses that were built specifically to BBC Studioworks’ requirements, along with some wide-angle UA14 ENG lenses for hand-held or in-car operation.
Fujifilm Optical manager Ian O’Connor said “Having had this long-term relationship helped us to understand BBC Studioworks’ very specific requirements and ensure we were able to deliver the products it needed.
Complete equipment list:
16x UA24x7.8BEZD-T9V 4K HDR ENG lenses
20x shot boxes -
3x UA14 ENG (for hand held in a car or close up)
