Jack Rooke comedy joined by Lightbox and Curve Media unscripted titles at Disney streamer

Jack Rooke’s Big Boys has been snapped up by US streamer Hulu as part of a multi-title content package with Fifth Season.

Both series of the Roughcut TV-produced Channel 4 comedy are now streaming on the Disney platform. Broadcast revealed last year that Fifth Season had acquired Big Boys for distribution after presenting the title to buyers at the LA Screenings. A third series is returning to Channel 4 next year.

Alongside Big Boys in Hulu’s package is Lightbox’s three-part Sky Documentaries true-crime series Bad Host: Hunting the Couchsurfing Predator and Curve Media’s reality format Hot Yachts: Miami which aired on Paramount+ originally.

Additionally, the third series of Canadian comedy Run the Burbs, created by star Andrew Phung and Scott Townend, will launch on Hulu this month. The latest series of the CBC title join the first two runs which are already on Hulu, taking the episode count to 38 for the half-hour show.

Travis Webb, senior vice-president, Americas distribution at Fifth Season, said: “As one of the leading US streaming services known for curating some of the best international series and films from around the world – we knew Hulu would be the ideal home for these titles.

“From the hilarious and heartwarming comedy of Big Boys to the shocking and powerful true crime documentary of Bad Host: Hunting the Couchsurfing Predator – this deal offers something for every Hulu subscriber to enjoy. We can’t wait to see the titles make their US debut and to continue growing our valued partnership with Hulu for the long-term.”

Big Boys’ addition follows on from fellow UK comedy acquisition by Hulu after the streamer took BBC1 comedy Black Ops in a deal with BBC Studios last week.
