The Hundred, Meet the Richardsons and BBC kids’ channel win plaudits from judges

Sky Arts and Sky Sports picked up two awards apiece and Dave landed three categories at the Broadcast Digital Awards 2022 – but they were pipped to Channel of the Year by CBBC.

Dave landed Best Comedy Programme for Meet the Richardsons (Second Act), Best Popular Factual Programme for Big Zuu’s Big Eats (Boom Pictures) and Best Digital Support for a Strand, Channel or Genre, while Sky took home six prizes overall.

Sky Sports’ coverage of new cricket tournament The Hundred won Best Sports or Live Event Coverage and Gamechanger Programme of the Year; Sky Arts was named Best Specialist Channel and its show Statues Redressed, made by Northern Town, picked up Best Content Partnership or AFP.

Additionally, Sky History, the partnership between Sky and A+E Networks UK, was named Channel of the Year Non-PSB Group and Landscapers (Sister) won Best Drama Programme.

CBBC was named Channel of the Year with judges praising it for “helping children make sense of the world and keeping them thoroughly entertained at the same time”. It also landed a highly commended award for Best Drama Programme, for Dodger from Universal International Studios.

BBC Studios also performed well, picking up Best Digital Pre-School Content alongside Studio AKA for YouTube’s The Workout Badges, and being part of the winning team for Best VR & AR Experience for The Green Planet AR Experience.

More 4 picked up Best Factual Channel, while Best Original Web Channel went to LADbible TV for the second consecutive year.

Alba Sotorra Productions & MetFilm won Best Documentary Programme for The Return: Life After ISIS, while Munya Chawawa’s indie Munz Made It picked up Best Entertainment Programme alongside Expectation for his YouTube travelogue Race Around Britain.
