Blackmagic Design has acquired the assets of EchoLab, the US-based designer and manufacturer of production switchers that folded earlier in the year.

EchoLab was liquidated in April after its main investor pulled funding.

The company’s ATEM range of production switchers (pictured) will now be made and sold by Blackmagic Design. The company will show the technology on its stand at IBC next month.

Blackmagic Design chief executive Grant Petty said: “I think the ATEM switchers from EchoLab are the most exciting switchers I have ever seen, and it’s incredibly exciting to add these products and intellectual property to the Blackmagic Design family.”

ATEM features include up conversion on inputs, multilayer SuperSource input, Stinger transitions and built in multi-view monitoring.
