Bectu members working for BBC Studios and Post Production (S&PP) are to be balloted on industrial action after no agreement could be reached over potential compulsory redundancies.
The ballot follows consultative ballots in S&PP in which Bectu’s BBC members in the ESPG group rejected some of the planned restructuring within the resources company.
The changes could result in nine compulsory redundancies for staff in roles such as stage door co-ordinator, scenic supervisor and stores operative.
BBC S&PP says it is committed to doing everything it can to find the affected staff work within the BBC.
A second ballot will also held regarding the plan to change the base for 45 drama staff working on EastEnders from TV Centre to Elstree.
Bectu members are being recommended to vote for industrial action, and action short of strike action, to oppose both sets of proposals.
The votes will close on 30 July 2010.
ESPG (Engineering Studios Post Group) is the Bectu branch based at BBC TV Centre representing non-management staff in broadcast engineering, post and studios.
