Red Bee Media has renewed its deal to provide broadcast services for BBC Worldwide’s suite of European and South African channels.

The multi-year deal will see the West London content services company provide end-to-end, file-based media management and playout services for BBC Entertainment, BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle and CBeebies in South Africa.

It will alsoplay out BBC Entertainment, BBC Knowledge and BBC Lifestyle channels in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, together with a pan-European BBC HD service.

“These are high-end, premium channels,” said Steve Plunkett, Red Bee Media director of technology and innovation.

“The infrastructure we have is suited to HD and it would be logical for the others to follow [the pan-Europe channel], but that’s a decision for BBC Worldwide.”
