The BBC has agreed to purchase more than 500 JVC GY-HM650 cameras for its news teams in the UK and overseas.

The camcorders, which have a dual codec capability and network connectivity, were unveiled at last year’s NAB show.

John Kelly, JVC general manager, UK and Ireland, Scandinavia, and Middle East and Africa, said: “Following on from the recent announcement that the GY-HM600 series camcorders meet EBU requirements for journalism, this provides further confirmation of its suitability for broadcast news production.”
