BBC Production Music has launched The BBC Orchestral Toolkit to allow editors to build their own music scores.
The kit comprises fifty orchestral tracks written in the same key and split into 3,000 interchangeable sections, which are supplied as 48k WAV files that can be dragged and dropped onto a timeline to build a score.
Universal Publishing Production Music (UPPM), which launched the BBC Production Music label in 2012, described the offering as “an open ended project” and said that more tracks would be added to the catalogue over the coming months.
UPPM worldwide president Gary Gross added: “While there is no substitute for a custom score in your production, the BBC Orchestral Toolkit comes as close as possible to having an orchestra at your fingertips.”
The BBC Production Music label features orchestras, composers and soundtracks from programmes such as Human Planet and Rome.
