BBC Motion Gallery, the footage sales arm of BBC Worldwide, has struck a deal with content aggregator Media Gateway to distribute BBC archive content to mobile phone and internet users in Europe and the Middle East .

Under the deal, Media Gateway will offer content from BBC Motion Gallery's archive of 400,000 hours of video. As well as BBC archive material, BBC Motion Gallery also represents HD footage from Japan's NHK archive, as well as clips from Australia's ABC and is the exclusive global representative for the CBS News archive.

'With BBC Motion Gallery, we can now offer last-mile distributors more than a million hours of compelling content, including history, events, music, social scenes, wildlife and sports,' said Karri Zaremba, CEO of Media Gateway.
