Endemol Shine Australia format heading to Netherlands, Finland and Norway
Banijay Entertainment’s adventure competition format The Summit has seen an avalanche of commissions with broadcasters in the Netherlands, Finland and Norway ordering local versions.
Local Banijay labels EndemolShine Nederland, Banijay Finland and Mastiff Norway are producing the adaptations for RTL Nederland, MTV and TV2 respectively.
The commissions bring the number of international markets the format has travelled to six and has just launched on CBS in the US, following Broadcast’s revelation of the order, and its debut European order by TV4 in Sweden.
Created by Married At First Sight Australia and Love Triangle outfit Endemol Shine Australia, The Summit was originally commissioned for Nine Network down under, with series two of the Jai Courtney-hosted show completing earlier this year.
A test of endurance and teamwork, contestants embark on an expedition through rugged terrain and mountain landscapes each carrying a life-changing cash prize in their backpack. To reach the summit, they must overcome a series of physical and moral tests, balancing trust and strategy to stay in the game, while working together to succeed and claim their reward.
Lucas Green, Banijay’s chief content officer, operations, said: “The Summit is quickly emerging as our next generation super-brand, with six versions commissioned in just over a year. The breadth of buyers taking on the format highlights its scalability, offering viewers a prime-time co-viewing experience.
“With its spectacular mountain backdrop, thrilling twists, emotional tension, and strategic alliances, the show delivers unmissable adventure for audiences around the globe.”
