The latest version of Avid Media Composer is now available for download.

Version 8.4 of the editing software has been improved for editing higher resolution formats.

New features include custom raster support up to 8K, native high-resolution playback for several popular formats including ProRes, AVC-I, XAVC-I and XF-AVC, and enhanced closed captioning.

Users will also have access to the same AAX presets as Pro Tools and alpha channel support for QuickTime-wrapped DNxHR to enhance graphics and compositing workflows when working with QuickTime applications.

Users will be able to use the new Media Composer and Media Composer Cloud workflows on a single system, permitting background uploading, rendering and transcoding while simultaneously working on remote cloud-based editing.
