NAB 2011: The adoption of generic IT systems will help media organisations to significantly reduce their dependence on high-cost proprietary systems, according to Amberfin’s chief technology officer.

“Media organisations visiting NAB this year will be looking for cost-effective and practical solutions to solve their workflow challenges and generate additional revenue,” said Amberfin CTO Bruce Devlin (pictured).

The file-based workflow firm said that generic IT solutions are inherently suitable for file-based workflows, and that given the “massive” growth in file-based acquisition and the demand for file-based delivery there is a pressing need to move to file-based workflow.

“By reducing capital costs of new equipment and the workflow costs of producing an increasing number of deliverables, media organisations can focus on creating new business opportunities, offering new services and attracting new clients,” Devlin added.
