JVC has sold two GY-HM100 ProHD camcorders to broadcast hire company Alias Smith & Singh.
The solid-state shooters record to Quicktime files, allowing fast workflows to be created when using Final Cut Pro for editing.
Alias Smith & Singh managing director Mike Smith said: “Customers like the fact that it records to both .MOV and .MP4, allowing simple integration with their preferred editing systems, and it further shows Alias’s commitment to solid state technologies.”
The 3-CCD camcorder - and its shoulder-mount cousin the GY-HM700 - captures 35Mbps high definition video and uncompressed audio directly to inexpensive SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) media cards in native QuickTime format.
Video clips are dragged directly from the storage media onto the non-linear editor’s timeline, eliminating the need for transcoding and extra disk space while maintaining original first generation image quality.
