UKTV and Sky were the standout winners at the Broadcast Digital Awards – taking home five trophies apiece, including major channel categories.
The BBC Studios-owned broadcaster’s Dave was named Channel of the Year, capping a night in which it also collected gongs for Boomerang’s Big Zuu’s Big Eats (Gamechanger Programme), Expectation’s Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable (Entertainment Programme) and Second Act Productions’ Meet the Richardsons at Christmas (Comedy Programme).
Sister channel W pitched in with success for Firecracker Films’ Emma Willis: Delivering Babies in 2020 in the Best Lockdown Programme - Popular Factual category.
UKTV’s success was matched by Sky which took the honours in categories including Best Non-PSB Channel for Sky Atlantic and Bad Wolf’s I Hate Suzie for Best Drama Programme.
Sky Documentaries triumphed in the Best Factual Channel category just 17 months after its launch, supported by Sky Arts’ win for its Best Live coverage of ENO’s Drive & Live: La Bohème (Somethin’ Else). Sky News / Sky Kids’ FYI Investigates - Brazil: Children Caught in the Crossfire (Fresh Start Media) was named Best Digital Children’s Content.
Meanwhile, LADbible won in two categories: Best Original Web Channel and Short-Form Format for …Minutes With and YouTube Originals had a double win for Life in a Day 2020 and Together We Rise in Best Lockdown Programme – Documentary and Best Popular Factual Programme.
Monkey Kingdom was named Best Multichannel Production Company of the Year, following Firecracker’s inaugural victory last year, boosted by its victory for ITV2’s Don’t Hate The Playaz in the Best Lockdown Programme - Comedy, Entertainment & Scripted category.
