Elaine Bedell, Alan Tyler, Richard Watsham and Celia Taylor will debate the Next Big Thing in Entertainment in a key session of Broadcast’s Commissioning Forum next month.
The event, on 3 and 4 November, takes place at Bafta and brings together some of the UK’s most influential commissioners. Day 1 (3 Nov) is focused on scripted genres, and Day 2 (4 Nov), when the entertainment panel takes place, is based on non-scripted programming.
The four speakers in the entertainment session are responsible for entertainment across the BBC, ITV, UKTV’s portfolio and the Sky channels.
The speakers will discuss the current trend for physical gameshows, how panel shows are evolving, the future of the talent show and other entertainment sub-genres.
The quartet will also lay out their commissioning requirements. Their recent orders include Twofour transformation format This Time Next Year (ITV), The Stig and Dermot O’Leary driving series The Getaway Car (BBC1), Taskmaster (Dave) and Bring the Noise (Sky 1).
The session will be chaired by former Endemol UK chief creative officer David Flynn, who will add his entertainment expertise to the debate.
Plus, Liam Humphreys, who is now responsible for entertainment at Channel 4 is discussing his strategy earlier in the day.
