Coach House Studios has bought a new Avid Unity Media Network that will be used to produce BBC1’s Holby City in HD.
The editing facilities company considered other shared storage systems during an evaluation period but plumped for a 32 Terabyte version of a server technology that the company has had success with in the past.
The Coach House Studios currently has an in-house Unity and a further five within its rental inventory.
At the same time the Avid Media Composers and Symphony Nitris systems used on the BBC1 drama have also been upgraded to latest software version.*
Holby City is currently in production using Panasonic P2 Varicam camcorders hired from Visual Impact. It will be broadcast in HD from the autumn
The Coach House Studios has also upgraded its entire rental fleet of 38 Media Composers and Symphony Nitris systems to the latest version.*
*Avid users upgrading to Media Composer 4 get a free upgrade to Media Composer 5 when it becomes available.
