Sony today launched two new camcorders, with the NEX FS700 the latest addition to the manufacturer’s range of NXCAM camcorders.
It also unveiled the palm-sized HXR NX30E which is equipped with a built-in projector.
Both cameras are expected to be available in June.
The NEX FS700 has a list price of £6,560 (€7,900) and the HXR NX30E £1,900 (€2,300).
The Super 35mm NEX FS700 can capture footage at up to 960Fps.
Sony said it is planning a firmware upgrade that will enable the camera to output 4K over 3G HD-SDI to a 4K recorder.
Sony Europe strategic marketing manager Bill Drummond said that with its super slow motion mode the NEX FS700 would be suited for pop promos, commercials and documentaries as well as sports.
According to Sony, the NEX FS700 delivers full HD quality images at 120 and 240Fps in an 8 or 16 second burst mode. 480Fps and 960Fps rates at reduced resolution are available for faster frame rate recording.
The camcorder uses a new 11.6 million pixels 4K Exmor Super 35 CMOS sensor.
Sony said that with the use of adapters E-Mount camera is “designed to accept virtually all SLR and DSLR 35mm lenses”.
3GHD-SDI and HDMI connectors can output full-HD 50p and 60p, in addition to HD 60i, 24p, 25p or 30p frame rates with embedded time code and audio.
The HXR NX30E shoots at 1920 x 1080 resolution and has a 1/2.88-inch image sensor which uses Sony’s Exmor R CMOS technology for a range of frame rates at 1080/50p, 25p, 50i and 720/50p.
The camera records AVCHD and has 96GB of internal memory. A dual slot accepts either SD or Memory Stick Pro Duo media cards for extra recording capacity.
The camera also has a built-in video projector for reviewing rushes. It can display an image of 100 inches from 16 feet.
